アジ旅「特派員は見た！」では週末旅では見ることが難しい現地の様子をお届けするということで、彼らの実生活が垣間見えるキーワード5点をインタビューしてみました。

世界一周バックパック旅でのエピソード1はニュージーランドについてお届け。ニュージーランド＝羊、のイメージが強いですが、ニュージーランド人のことを俗称でKiwi（キウィ）と言うのをご存じですか？由来は諸説あるようですが、その1つは、ニュージーランドに生息する国鳥にも指定されている鳥Kiwiを由来とするもの。そんなKiwiを愛するKiwi代表、オークランド在住セブさん（24歳）に突撃インタビュー！

Q1：自分へのごほうびは・・・ビール！

ニュージーランドはワインも有名でワイナリーがたくさんあるけど、僕は断然ビール派！仕事を頑張った後は、行きつけのお店でクィっと一杯やるのが楽しみなんだ。

—–おぉ。そりゃ私と気が合うな。

Q2：初デートの場所は･･･映画館！

13歳の頃に映画館に行ったよ。もう緊張で手に汗握って必死だった。もちろん、何の映画を見たかも覚えてない。

—–初デート事情は日本と一緒だね（笑）。他の国々も一緒だったら面白すぎる！！これからのエピソードが楽しみだ！

Q3：仕事の悩みは・・・ない！

悩みなんてないよ！たまに残業もするけど、早く帰って週5日でタッチラグビーをプレイしてリフレッシュしてるんだ！

—–まじか。。。いい国だなニュージーランド。。

Q4：夢は・・・クルーザーを持つこと！でも他にもたくさん！

オークランドは船乗りの街としても知られていて港もたくさん。僕がオークランドの一番好きなところだね。ここに僕のクルーザーを並べて、その中で生活するのも面白いな。でもその前に、イギリスやドイツでも生活してみたいし、あ、世界中の有名なサッカー場を巡りたい！僕の夢はたくさんあるよ！

—–港の様子は横浜のみなとみらいにもすごく似ている。アクティブなセブの将来が楽しみだ！

Q5：彼女の好きなところは・・・自然体でいられるところ。

今の彼女とは大学時代から付き合って6年。じつは3歳の頃にスイミングスクールでも一緒で、大学で再会したんだ！（お互いそれを知ったのは後になってだけど）お互いに自分のあるがまま、常に自然体で一緒にいられるところが好きだな。

—–うらやましいなぁ。。3歳の頃に会っていたなんて、なんて運命的！

日本と変わらなかったり、ニュージーランドならではだったり、クルーザーの夢は、なるほど実際に「こんなやつ」と停泊しているクルーザーを見て、その夢の吸引力に私も心惹かれました。人当たりがよく明るく、どこか楽観的でおかしい点もあるKiwiの人たちに会いに来てみませんか？

【Correspondent Report】

Episode 1: the Life of a Kiwi
～the Round-The-World Backpacking Traveler〜

For my “Correspondent Report” for our “Asia Travel” community at Shibuya College, I interviewed locals with 5 questions to have a peek into their lives and deliver information that you would hardly see just from a weekend trip.

The first episode in the Round-The-World Backpacking Traveler series is about New Zealand. It’s easy to imagine that New Zealand = sheep, but New Zealanders are actually called Kiwis. There are several theories as to why they are called that, but the reason surrounds the Kiwi bird, which lives in New Zealand and is certified as the national icon. So, let me start by introducing my Kiwi friend who loves the kiwi bird - Seb (24), who lives in Auckland, New Zealand.

Q1：the reward for working hard is･･･BEER！

We have many vineyards and wine is a popular choice for Kiwis, although I definitely prefer beer! Drinking beer at one of my favorite bars after a hard day at work is the best.

—–Wow, no wonder we are good friends!

Q2：the place of your first date is･･･Movie Theater！

I went to see a movie with my first girlfriend when I was thirteen. I was so nervous and my hands were so sweaty. Naturally, I don’t remember what I watched.

—–It is the same situation in Japan! lol. It would be fun if other countries were the same! Well, we will see!

Q3：the distress of your work is･･･Nothing！

I don’t have too many difficulties (at the moment). I have to work extra hours sometimes, but normally I play touch rugby and football around 5 days a week to relax.

—–What a great country New Zealand is…

Q4：the dream is…To own a boat - I have many dreams!

Auckland is a port city – we have many harbors. That is one of the reasons I love Auckland. It’s so beautiful. I want to have a boat to anchor in the harbor and just live there. Oh, before that, I want to live in England and Germany. And I want to visit all of the famous football stadiums in the world. I have many dreams.

—–The harbor in Auckland looks like Minato-Mirai, Yokohama. I’m looking forward to seeing Seb’s future.

Q5：the most attractive quality of your girlfriend is…Being able to stay just as we are.

It has been 6 years since we got together back in university. Actually, we had met when we were 3 years old at our swimming school (we realized after a while). We are completely open with each other - no stress, no need to pretend. That’s why I like her.

—–How sweet…It was destiny to meet each other again!

Some points are exactly the same as Japan, some points are very unique. The dream to have a boat is so cool – I saw many different types over there. Why not come and meet some easygoing, sometimes weird, but very friendly kiwis?
